ABOUT ME

Pheona Wall is the current President of The  Uganda Law Society.

Pheona Wall was born and raised in Jinja District. She is the first born in a family of three children. Pheona attended YMCA Nursery School Jinja, Narambhai Primary School Jinja, Victoria Nile Primary School Jinja, She completed her O and A’Levels from Mt. St. Mary’s College Namagunga on scholarship which was given to her by Uganda Commercial Bank for being the best PLE student in Eastern Region. Pheona Wall studied Bachelor of Laws on a government scholarship and a Master in Management as well a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre.[4] She served in different prefectiorial body such as a time keeper, Sanitary Prefect at Naramdbai Primary School and Victoria Nile Primary School respectively. She served as Outreach Secretary at the Law School Fellowship. During her LLB she volunteered at the LDC Legal Aid Clinic.

PROFFESIONAL EXPERIENCE


Pheona Wall is an advocate and Chartered Mediator with a Bachelors’ Degree in Law, a Diploma in Legal Practice and an MBA in Management. She is a governance professional and a public relations practitioner with over 15 years’ experience currently serving as the Senior Manager Legal Services National Water and Sewerage Corporation, a position she has held since June 2014. She is also a Registered Trustee of Zamara Retirement Fund.

She is currently the President Uganda Law Society, having served as Secretary then Vice President and the Chairperson of the Legal Aid and Pro Bono Project of the Uganda Law Society.

Pheona also currently serves as a Council Member of the Judiciary Council and also serves on the Governing Council of the East African Law Society
She seats on the ICAMEK and CADER Arbitration Center Boards.

Pheona is a Governance Expert who trains Boards in Governance under the Institute for Corporate Governance Uganda and has also served on various Boards including Zamara Retitement Fund, Water FC, Future Investments Group, East African Young Water Professionals, Uganda Law Society, and Public Relations Association of Uganda.

Pheona was awarded the Hague Institute for Innovations in Law “2018 Talent to Watch” award and is a two time awardee of the New Vision 40 under 40 award for 2018 and 2020.
Pheona was also awarded the French German Elysees Peace and Reconciliation Award in 2021 for her efforts towards fighting for the Rule of Law in Uganda.

She is a member of various organizations like ICGU, FIDA, IBA, PRAU, ULS and EALS.

A resource in both private and public enterprises with thorough knowledge and hands-on experience in public relations, energy, oil and gas, company secretarial practice, corporate governance, labour law, contract and commercial transactions, Pheona combines a solid corporate legal background with a well-developed understanding of both commercial and operational drivers of business. She is regularly retained by both local and foreign investors and has played an advisory role to two joint ventures on the Tilenga Project.

She is passionate about promoting good governance and change management in public institutions, increasing access to justice for the marginalized especially women and children, and promoting the rule of law.
She is an ardent advocate for ethical practice under her mantra, “Faithful Available Teachable “
